Let me first give you a little background regarding my business. I am a professional magician and have been in this business for the past twenty years or so. I started out part time while I worked a regular day job (with Roseville Telephone) and converted to full time in April of 2008. My wife is still working a day job part time, but appears with me whenever she can as my magical assistant. We have performed from coast to coast in this country, but have also been to Europe three times, Israel, England, Mexico, Canada, and once on a cruise ship to Alaska. My current target market is the Greater Sacramento area however. We provide various shows: school shows, pre-school shows, adult shows, senior shows, corporate events, birthday parties, etc. We perform on stage, in living rooms, parks, pizza parlors, theaters, and senior centers. We can do stage illusions as well as close-up strolling magic. We have great reviews and reputation.
I also have had extensive achievement in telemarketing and appointment setting. The companies I worked for in that capacity would consistently tell me that I have a “gift” for telemarketing. I have used my own telemarketing skills to grow my magic entertainment business. There is a point, though where I have just so much time to do the marketing I want to do plus the other things I want to accomplish.
What I am looking for is someone who is a skilled as I am with the same kind of work ethic I have to do the cold calling I need to do to keep my business going and also to grow my business. My plan is to double my current workload….which is very achievable to do. I find, however, that I run out of time at the end of the day, week, month. A telemarketer who is capable of doing what I do would free me up to do additional marketing for the growth I am looking for.
The outbound calls would be to businesses. I will create the call-lists. Calls would be made to corporate businesses, government agencies, churches, daycares, assisted living centers, schools, and so forth depending upon market objectives. My style of calling is rather soft-sell. I have a script that I use when calling, but refer to it only if I have a “brain-freeze”. I have attached the script here for you to see. I realize that each telemarketer has his or her own style, so I would not require strict use of the script. My calls are basically to find out who the decision maker is and to get permission to send that person some information regarding my business. After sending this, I then call back a couple of days later, ask for that person and either arrange an in-person meeting, a phone-call meeting, or sell my show on the phone right then. As you know, it is a numbers game. I have found that when I spend a day doing this, I can get information sent to five or six prospects, and on a good day I can even set up at least one appointment.
